Tried this as an experiment with a 5yo horse who had been diagnosed with ulcers, having found it suggested on the internet. He had previously been on Peptizole but when the dose was reduced would revert to displaying all manner of peculiar symptoms, licking his mouth and appearing to be trying to wash his mouth out and dunking his hay in his water bucket. I wanted to find something more natural and less expensive so tried a combination of Fenugreek in his feed and limestone flour in both his feed and water for about a month. This appeared to help and the peculiar symptoms largely disappeared. It's impossible to know just how effective it was or whether the arrival of spring and fresh grazing is what really effected a cure. At the moment he appears fully recovered, kept at grass and in full work. I intend to continue the Fenugreek long term though as I believe that it can't do any harm and he's looking better at the moment than he ever has.

why can't fenugreek be fed to pregnant horses ?
Fenugreek is a uterine stimulant so shouldn't be given to pregnant mares although once foaled can be given to help increase milk production.
