My mare had a persistent small wound that was difficult to heal because she would rub it, as it was on the inside of her leg, I used the gel and it formed a barrier and this helped to keep it clean and the flies off.

We have used Intrasite many times but finding a cheaper alternative is an absolute joy! Intrasite contains a CMC polymer too, not sure what difference that should make for the extra cost but I don't see the value. This hydrogel is a little thinner but it hasn't appeared to make a difference to healing times and it still adheres nicely. As we're mostly dealing with cats I tend to use on undressed wounds I usually apply three times daily.
Highly recommended.

I am currently dressing an operation site. A golf ball sized mass was removed and an open wound the size of an average bar of soap has been left open to granulate. It is a long road. So far in a week it has granulated 2-3 mm. Should I bathe the wound at every dressing change, rinse the old vetalintex off with saline pod or just leave. I am using an allevyn dressing to absorb. Just trying not to disturb the healing. The dog is sedated for dressing changes so far. Many thanks.
I strongly recommend seeking treatment advice from your vet regarding the wound. Dressing options vary greatly depending on the site and how the wound visually looks.
In general cleaning a wounding before applying a dressing is a good idea, removing any debris and previous dressing material (including any Vetalintex). Avoid chlorhexidine based products (like Hibi Scrub) to flush the wound unless the wound is infected as these can slow healing times. The Vetalintex Sterile Wound Hydrogel you have linked should be applied directly to the
wound surface before applying an approriate secondary dressing. Apply
generously to a depth of about 5mm. Dressings should be changed
frequently dependent on the condition of the wound and the amount of
exudate.

My cat has an open wound on his back, about 2cm by 2cm, it sometimes scabs over but it keeps bleeding when he is scratching it. I need something to cover it while it heals, please advise if this is the right product thanks
You could use this dressing safely as long as you replace it every day. However it is difficult to keep a dressing on a cat unless you are very determined. I suspect your cat is feeling itchy so you should ensure that you flea control is absolutely perfect. You could perhaps try an "elimination diet" trial to see if a dietary allergy is playing a part in things. If in doubt, speak to your vet.
