Description

Royal Canin Gastro-Intestinal Moderate Calorie is a high energy-density, reduced fat kibble for dogs in cases of acute or chronic diarrhoea, pancreatic insufficiency, inflammatory bowel disease, maldigestion and malabsorption, colitis or convalescence. Combining digestible proteins, fish oils, pulps and prebiotics to promote complete digestive health and the function of internal systems. The diet is formulated to cater to the needs of growing dogs with an energy-packed kibble that allows you to distribute a smaller amount of food at mealtimes, thereby reducing the digestive workload. The moderate-calorie formulation is suitable for dogs suffering from a variety of complaints and its palatable recipe will suit even the fussiest canine appetites. Not suitable in cases of pregnancy or lactation.

For overweight, neutered, inactive dogs (prone to weight gain), acute and chronic diarrhoea, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), maldigestion, malabsorption, Small Intestinal Bacterial, Overgrowth (SIBO), Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI), gastritis, colitis.

Amy has a delicate digestive system and needs the nutrition and comfort that Royal Canin Vet Gastro-Intestinal Moderate Calorie Dog Food provides. Combined with the need to keep a check on her weight, this and the Royal Canin wet cans ticks most of the boxes.

I use this for my weight prone yorkie as recommended by my vet when he gets a loose tummy. It is an excellent product with the kibble small enough for little dogs (no crunch for large dogs though). It is an excellent stand by when an upset comes along and very much better priced than the vets.

Great product. My dog had previously had regular upset tummy now never has a problem. Bit on the expensive side but not so bad when buying 14kg bag and cheaper than monthly trip to the vet !

Low fat or moderate....

Graham Robinson

Hi there, my Siberian husky has severe pancreatitis after being diagnosed after blood test. We have him on your Castro intestinal LOW FAT at the moment but wondered if we could put him on the moderate as we WORK him during the winter months. We could use the low fat during the summer and moderate during the winter if it would give him that extra energy for running without affecting his fat intake. We also give him PANZYM with your food to supplement his pancreatic enzymes.

  • VioVet Staff

It should be safe enough to do as you say, but I would suggest you introduce the new food gradually. Pancreatitis is an unpredictable condition and the trigger factors for attacks are not well understood. It may or may not occur again whatever you do, but obesity and a high fat diet do seem to be associated with it. If your dog is too lean then certainly I would increase the fat content slightly. If your dog can maintain a good weight on the low fat diet, then I would stay with that.
