Description

For dogs with nutritional intolerances or adverse food reactions, ROYAL CANIN® Canine Sensitivity Control can help to support your dog’s wellbeing.

ROYAL CANIN® Canine Sensitivity Control is specially formulated with the nutritional needs of your dog in mind and is available in 1.5kg, 7kg and 14kg bags. In order to limit the likelihood of nutrient intolerance, ROYAL CANIN® Canine Sensitivity Control contains a limited number of very high quality protein and carbohydrate sources.

The specially formulated complex of nutrients in this food helps to support the natural protective barrier role of your dog’s skin, ultimately helping to maintain ideal skin and coat health. To further support your dog’s skin health, as well as the health of its digestive system, ROYAL CANIN® Canine Sensitivity Control is enriched with specific Omega-3 long chain fatty acids. These fatty acids are known as DHA and EPA and also contribute towards the support of your dog’s immune system.

ROYAL CANIN® Canine Sensitivity Control is formulated with highly digestible proteins and starches, as well as a blend of fibres – including prebiotics – that help to maintain your dog’s healthy, balanced digestive system. As part of the ROYAL CANIN® Veterinary Range, it is important that this product is only given to your pet when recommended by a veterinary professional. To cater to each dog’s individual preferences, ROYAL CANIN® Canine Sensitivity Control is also available as wet food in a soft and palatable loaf with a choice of two variants: chicken with rice or duck with rice. If you’re considering mixed feeding, be sure to follow our feeding guidelines to ensure your dog gets an accurate amount of both wet and dry food for optimal benefit.

At ROYAL CANIN® we’re committed to providing nutritional solutions to your pet’s needs. All of our products undergo an extensive quality control process in order to guarantee the optimum quality of food, as well as catering to your dog’s specific dietary requirements and lifestyle. This means that when your dog eats ROYAL CANIN® Canine Sensitivity Control, it’s getting a complete and balanced diet.

How much should i feed an airedale puppy age 8 months, 20 kilos

malka

how much should i feed and airedale puppy who is 8 months and weighs 20 kilos

  • VioVet Staff

At 8 months old it is advised to still be using a puppy diet for your dog, this is an adult diet. If your vet has specifically recommended this diet for your dog then you should discuss with them what amount to feed. This is a veterinary diet so it's use should be alongside their advice anyway.

Do I need a veterinarian prescription or is it a general product I could buy

Janet

Is this product prescription only

  • VioVet Staff

This food can be bought without a written prescription but it is from Royal Canin's veterinary range so it is advised you seek veterinary advice before starting it.

Production site

Kairit

Is the current Sensivity Canine dry food produced in France or Poland (the production site code begins with FR or PL)?

  • VioVet Staff

Hi Kairit,

Royal Canin have 12 manufacturing sites, with some in the US and most in Europe. The best thing to do would be to contact Royal Canin to ask for the manufacturing place of a specific food as I'm afraid the information is not available online.

Royal Canin have high manufacturing standards and state 'We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.' so whichever plant they manufacture in, you can be confident in receiving a product that meets all safety and quality requirements.

I hope this helps,

Kind regards,

SUITABLE FOR A PUPPY?

Can i feed sensitivity control duck and tapioca to a 7 month doberman puppy

  • VioVet Staff

Yes this is a good quality, complete diet and it would be fine for your puppy, especially if it has gastro-intestinal issues or suspected allergies. (It is very young to have genuine allergies, but the diet is good nonetheless.)

Pancreatitis vet recommends Royal cabin, which one would be the best

kathy

The vet thinks pancreatitis a mild form, had tests and blood tests they have recommended. royal canin, have tried this before in a tin my dog wouldnt eat it. Can you rec. which one be the best as they look like they are for different conditions.I have used viovet for quite a while with my Cavalier Chloe who passed away at Christmas and I know Viovet will be better priced than my vet if I can get her to eat it. I think Viovet is a great company and rec. you to everyone.
My dog is Penny a Westie, aged 9 yrs.
Thank you.

  • VioVet Staff

For pancreatitis I would recommend Royal Canin Gastro-intestinal Low Fat dog food or equally Hills i/d dog food (ideally the low fat version).

Quick change over to sensitive diet

Daisy

Hi, my pointer has really bad diarrhoea which the vet feels is due to too much protein in her diet from a mixed source. She is very sensitive and I've tried lots of different foods supposedly for this but still she gets upsets at times, as the food she has is causing such an upset I wondered how quickly I can change her over to the royal canine sensitivity - when she gets upsets she stops eating and then when she feels better she guzzles the tinned royal canine sensitivity so I wondered if I could stick with that and then slowly introduce the dried royal canine rather than using anymore of the protein rich food she is obviously intolerant to.
many thanks X

  • VioVet Staff

In my opinion, dogs usually have trouble like this because of the types of protein given, not the total amount. Being carnivores, dogs are in fact designed to consume large amounts of protein and it is often pointed out that the large amounts of cereal they tend to be given amount to very unnatural diets and might well be responsible for problems themselves. However it is true that most dogs do in fact digest cereals well and unnatural or not, they seem to work OK for most dogs. The precise mechanism whereby sensitivities and intolerances develop are poorly understood and commercial pressure from the big manufacturers clouds the issues.

Senstivity control works partly by having different protein sources which are well digested and as long as your dog is well suited to these proteins, all should be well. (The dried form is based on tapioca and duck, the wet is chicken or duck and rice..) I would switch your dog onto any new diet gradually, by adding a little to the former diet, then over 7-10 days, gradually change the proportions until she has switched completely. Most dogs do fine this way.

Can I give this to a normal dog

VioVet Visitor

Hi

My dog has got a shunt and this food has been recommended but my other dog loves and just wondered if it was okay for both dogs to eat the same.

  • VioVet Staff

Though this food is usually designed for dogs suffering from food intolerances and allergies, it would be fine to feed to a normal dog without these problems.
