Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding ROYAL CANIN® Gastro Intestinal Puppy Dry Dog Food, including answers from our team.

How much to feed a 6 m old puppy

Bridget Ferguson

  • VioVet customer since 2016
  • From: Surrey, United Kingdom

Underweight due to haemorrhagic Gastroenteritis,
Doing mixed wet and dry gastro for instructions on package do not make sense expected adult weight 18kg

  • VioVet Staff

I recommend feeding as per the guidelines for the adult expected weight of the dry and wet food packaging, but halving both. There is no exact guide for an 18kg puppy so I would advise following the low end of the 20kg feeding guide.
So at 6 months old your pup should be on 150g of dry food and 3 cans of the puppy gastrointestinal mousse over 24hours.

Junior Dog Food

Gill Sharples

  • VioVet customer since 2015
  • From: Dorset, United Kingdom

I am using Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Gastro-Intestinal Junior Dog Food, my dogs are coming upto 1 year old in January and both still have delicate guts, - I have used this food since September as recommended by the vet. Should I change once they are a year old or stick to the junior version? If I change what is the best food.

  • VioVet Staff

The standard Royal Canin Gastro-Intestinal food should be ideal, so I would suggest that but you should check with your vet if you are at all unsure.
