Description

Prascend is supplied as small tablets and is the veterinary licensed form of the drug pergolide, which has been used for some time to treat Cushing's Disease in horses. This is a hormonal disease where the pituitary gland in the brain fails to work properly, resulting in an overproduction of natural steroid hormones in the body. This gives rise to a variety of clinical signs, the most common being a longer, paler and curly coat. Affected horses often appear depressed and lose weight despite seeming to eat more. They often drink and urinate excessively too. Cushing's disease results in a depressed immune system, so parasite infestations and bacterial infections often develop. Cushing's disease is seen most often in older ponies. Vets can perform blood tests to confirm the diagnosis. Prascend is unable to cure Cushing's disease, but it helps to control symptoms and improves the quality of life. Prascend tablets need to be given daily for the rest of the horse's life.

This product has been great for Tayah and allowed her to continue with a more normal way of life. I order a prescription from my vet and scan to my viovet account, as long as I have a prescription on file, the prascend is sent immediately and I normally receive within 4 or 5 days. I order monthly at a time.

do i have to buy 160 whole box of prascend? she has only been prescribed half one a day to see how she responds she is 27 yr old pony

  • VioVet Staff

These tablets can be purchased as single tablets so you do not need to buy a whole box. You can order up to however much your vet has prescribed, and the amount prescribed does not need to be ordered all in one go. If you need any further explanation please contact us on [email protected].

Receive monthly?

jess

i have a prescription for 180 tablets but dont want to pay for and have that many delivered straight away - can I order and pay for less and maybe have them delivered monthly?

  • VioVet Staff

Yes you can order this medication monthly and in smaller quantities.
The quantity and number of repeats your vet writes on your script dictates the maximum quantity that you can order, and this must be done by the designated prescription expiry.
For example with a written quantity 180 tablets then you can order 30 monthly, just make sure all of this is ordered before the sceduled script expiry if you require the full 180 tablets.

You can set up a regular delivery through our website, just go to purchase the prascend and the option to set up a regular delivery will be at our checkout.

Brexit

Hille Bunje

Is it still possible to order medication from YOU after England has left the EU?

  • VioVet Staff

Hi,

Like all companies, VioVet have been investigating and preparing for the possible effects of Brexit on our current way of doing business. We are working closely with our partners across our supply chain, from stock to delivery, to ensure any impact is minimised and we continue to trade as normal. At this stage, our supply chain has not voiced concerns over stock availability but investigations are ongoing. We have prepared a few FAQs below:

Where do my products come from?
A large amount of products sold in the UK pet market come from overseas, in particular the EU. We are unable to comment on the origin of every product we sell, but encourage you to contact the manufacturer if you have any specific concerns.

Should I bulk buy?
Whilst this may seem like an overreaction, due to the complexities of the continuing Brexit negotiations, and the unknown nature of what will happen after Brexit is complete, buying more than you normally would may be a sensible option. We offer a range of bulk discounts across many products in our range, and do not charge more for the weight of your delivery over 2kg, so you might find some savings can be made whilst avoiding the risk of running out of food for your pet.

What if a product is unavailable?
Where a product may become unavailable, our knowledgeable team will be on hand to discuss any potential alternative options where available. We will do our best to keep our existing range available as normal.

What about shipping into the EU?
We are working closely with our delivery partners to ensure there is no impact to our ability to deliver into the EU. Whilst there are no guarantees and very little Government guidance available yet, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and update our customers where appropriate.

What about my prescription medication?
If your pet is on long-term medication, it may be sensible to ask your vet for a larger than normal quantity over the next few months to ensure any potential shortages in the supply chain are accounted for. Please always make sure you confirm expiry dates before bulk purchases as per our Terms & Conditions on long-term medication salesWe sincerely hope that we are able to continue to trade as normal with minimal impact to our loyal customers, and we will work tirelessly to make this happen.

Thanks.
