Description

Nobivac Tricat is regarded by many as the standard vaccination used to protect cats against Flu and Enteritis. It comes as a freeze-dried powder in a single-dose bottle and has to be mixed with a diluent immediately before use. The diluent can either be Nobivac Solvent, or Nobivac FeLV if protection against Feline Leukaemia is also required.

Please note Nobivac Diluent (solvent) is NOT routinely included with this purchase. However you can purchase a Nobivac Solvent seperately.

Antibodies in Kittens - How long?

Sarah Ward

How long after the second shot of Nobivac Tricat does a kitten produce enough antibodies to enable them to enter a high risk environment e.g. a cattery, and have adequate protection.

Previous guidance has always said 2 weeks in the UK, is this still the case?

Many thanks.

The onset of immunity as per the datasheet is as follows:

Onset of immunity:
for FCV and FHV: 4 weeks; for FPLV: 3 weeks.

This means it takes up to 4 weeks after the 2nd injection for effective immunity to be achieved.

Is Nobivac Trio Cat a 3 year vaccine? nobivac FelV a 2 year vaccine?

Lesley Shale

I do not want to over vaccinate my cats age 13years. they have been regularly vaccinated yearly. I now read on the Nobivac site that this vaccine is a 3 year vaccine -
"NobivacĀ® Feline 3-HCP is a modified live virus vaccine containing attenuated strains of feline rhinotracheitis virus (FRV), calicivirus (FCV), and panleukopenia virus (FPV). This vaccine is for the vaccination of healthy cats for the prevention of disease due to feline panleukopenia virus, as an aid in prevention of disease due to feline calicivirus, and as an aid in the control of disease due to feline rhinotracheitis for 3 years following initial and booster vaccinations. Formerly known as ContinuumĀ® Feline HCP. "

Also it says Nobivac FeLV is a 2 year vaccine.

I would appreciate an answer. Thank you

Vaccination against feline panleucopaenia with Nobivac Tricat Trio can be reduced to once every 3 years. For Calcivirus and Herpes Virus, also contained in Tricat, vaccination every 3 years should be sufficient for indoor cats that don't go to cattery's at low risk of exposure. However for a cat at higher risk of exposure – one that visits boarding catteries, has an indoor-outdoor lifestyle or is from a multi-cat household – annual vaccination is recommended. In this instance you could give Tricat once every 3 years and Ducat in the interim years.
