Description

NAF Cushinaze is a nutritional supplement which provides support of the pituitary gland and also helps optimise gut function. As a horse ages it can pick up pituitary gland stress which may result in an un-shedding curly coat, excessive drinking, poor condition, lethargy and hoof and laminae stress. Cushinaze combines key herbal elements which support the pituitary gland with essential support of the whole horse. Efficient metabolism is supported by live probiotic yeasts, in combination with magnesium to support glucose metabolism.

MSM is included to support healthy hooves along with antioxidants which flush out harmful toxins most often seen as hoof stress. Cushinaze is recommended for all horses and ponies where blood tests confirm, or one or more key signs indicate the presence of pituitary gland stress.

Been using this for 6 months now and Merlin has never looked so healthy. He has had Cushings for 15 years and struggles to lose his winter coat. This year, although it was a little late (not helped by the weather) he is looking shiny and sleek and despite the grass growing non stop he has remained fairly slim with no cresty neck. Would definitely recommend.

My old TB is on the thin side at 28 yrs old; I use this additive as a precaution as he hasn't been tested too recently for Cushings and doesn't show any specific symptoms, but at his age I wanted to spare him the Prascend route.

Hello, I would like to know if NAF Cushinaze was a cure or should it be given all the time without interruption to have good satisfaction. Thanks in advance, have a nice day

NAF Cushinaze is formulated to help the secondary signs of Cushings and is not a cure for the condition. You will need to manage the Cushings with your vet alongside using this product, this often involes tablets of pergolide to treat the underlying issue.
Ideally the supplement should be fed daily in the long term in horses with Cushings disease.

Effect upon Presend requirements

Does this supplement help to make the drug more effective, maybe therefore, reducing the dosage required. I'm thinking of a situation where the horse may have been one 1 tablet per day and the next time tested, have raised levels requiring 1 1/2 tablets per day. Could it also help to prevent that from happening?

  • VioVet Staff

This product is unlikely to change the prascend requirements for your horse but it can reduce the secondary effects from Cushings disease. This includes helping prevent laminitis and the effects of high blood sugar levels.
