Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Libeo, including answers from our team.

Liquid form?

Sal

My chi hates all tablets- tried everything ☹️ Is there a liquid form? Or would it be ok to dissolve with a little water and use a syringe?

  • VioVet Staff

There is no liquid form of Libeo, however there is a human version of the active ingredient (furosemide) that does come in a liquid form. We cannot legally advertise human medications but we can dispense them off license alongside a prescription for use in animals, please ring our customer services on 01582 842096 for more information.
You can crumble the Libeo tablets so one option is to crush them into wet food or a treat and give them this way.

Libeo 40mg

Elaine

How many tablets should a cocker spaniel have daily

  • VioVet Staff

Hi Elaine,

Thank you for your question.

The dosage is based on weight (see dosage section in the description), however your vet will prescribe a suitable dosage.

Is libeo safe for cats

Paula

Can libeo be given to cats? I've been given 10mg to give to my cat daily but all articles I'm reading say for dogs. Is it safe to give to cats?

  • VioVet Staff

The active ingredient in Libeo is Frusemide. Frusemide is used most commonly in dogs with congestive heart failure and so Libeo is licensed for dogs rather than cats which is why everything you are reading is about dogs. However Frusemide is perfectly suitable to give to cats if prescribed by your vet and is often used in cases of heart failure, liver disease or kidney disease.
