I feed my cats if they show signs of a cold. My cats keep coughing and sneezing after suffering from a cold.I have three cats. They don't like this for themselves, but they all eat well when served in a mixture of snacks. It doesn't change dramatically, but I can see my cats go down a little after a bad runny nose.So I always have to feed it. I don't think there's anything like this as a preventive medicine.

I bought Flumax on recommendation from my vet as she said it cost a lot more from them (which was a nice thing to do!). I need it as i adopted a mother cat and her kitten from Cats Protection and found out after adoption that the kitten had documented 'full on cat flu' 2 weeks prior to adoption but Cats Protection had not informed me! I would not have been able to adopt if I had known this but was certainly not going to return her as we are now very attached to her. She started sneezing less than 2 weeks after adoption and we had to take her to the vet a few days after that with a very weepy eye and crackly breathing. The vet said it was cat flu (again after only 4 weeks of treatment by Cats Protection vet! Luckily my kitten licks the paste up with no problem. However her mother who also had signs of cat flu a few days ago will not touch it! I am hoping that this product will at least help my kitten with the potentially deadly effects of cat flu.

Made cats symptoms worse whilst using. Once stopped his symptoms went back to exactly what they were before. Very strange and had the opposite effect from what I was hoping

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Flumax Nutritional Cat Respiratory Supplement, including answers from our team.
JL
Our Siberian kitten has been sneezing since we got him from the breeder at 3 months - he's now 9 months. In that time the vet prescribed Bisolvon (worked a little), Loxicom and Synulox (didn't work at all). We've tried L-Lysine 500mg tablets for a week which didn't work. He has sneezing fits and shoots out dried yellow mucus onto our surfaces and has a dry nose. But has no other symptoms. We would like to exhaust all possibilities before having the vet sedate him to examine and test his airways. Do you think this may work for him?
Sneezing as the only sign usually means there is an issue in the nostrils themselves, in the nasal cavities/sinuses. Flumax is intended to help with viral cat flu which can show as sneezing but usually also eye problems, lethargy, nasal discharge and a high temperature.
There is no harm trying Flumax and it will help boost the immune system but in the situation you describe I cannot guarantee it will help.

My cat have been eating this supplements. I usually put it with wet food like tuna or mackerel fish and no problem. however I don’t know why she suddenly doesn’t like it and refused it recently. No matter how hard I tried it won’t works. I don’t know what to do. Do you think should I change it to tablet?? Any suggestions of cat flu medicine (pills) is good?
Flumax is the only respiratory supplement for cat flu on the veterinary market currently unfortunately. I recommend heating the fish slightly, for example in the microwave, to improve palatability. You can also try splitting the supplement dose into multiple feeds, for example 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening. Mixing with a treat like Lick-e-Lix can help as this is extremely palatable.

Hi just wondering how long i should
Give this to my cat . Is it suitable for a few months or is it just to ve administered for 7-10 days like most vetrinary medicines from the vet
Flumax can be used safely in the long term but it should not be needed for this. Flu like symptoms should resolve over time and the Flumax should help recovery. If your cat needs the product in the long term then I advise seeing your vet to ensure your cat is being treated effectively.

Our cat sneezes regularly and sometimes has a nasal discharge that is either white or bloody. will this product help / cure the virus
Flumax is a nutritional supplement which is intended to support a cat's own immune defenses against chronic upper respiratory disease. The various factors involved in these infections in different individual cats, mean that it is very unlikely this product will help all affected cats. However it will probably have some effect in some cats and being a very safe product, is probably worth trying as part of the treatment/prevention of flare-ups of symptoms. Essentially it is worth a try. The manufacturer is regarded as a producer of a variety of good quality products which provide nutritional support for animals affected by a number of different conditions.
