With its powerful aroma, Airways® Xtra Strength Powder opens the airways and eases breathing. For lower respiratory health or laboured breathing, complete a course of Coff-Less before maintaining on Airways® Xtra Strength Powder or use Coff-Less permanently for long term concerns.

Bought along side another 2 products to assist with a head shaking horse. I was sceptical of what help these supplements would be but I was wrong to be, I've had the horse on these for approx 3 weeks now and the difference in his headshaking is unbelievable, I've combined the use of a nose net as well while hacking and he's gone from hardly being able to sit on him, he would be tripping, shaking his head to the point of almost falling off him. Now he twitches his head slightly every 500yrds rather than every other step.

Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Equine America Airways Xtra Strength Powder for Horses, including answers from our team.

Laminitis

Louise King

Can this supplement be fed to a horse recovering from laminitis?

  • VioVet Staff

In general you want to avoid sugar in supplements as high blood sugar levels can predipose to repeat episodes of laminitis in horses that are prone to it. Equine America Airways does not contain any sugars except for those naturally occuring in the oils, so this is safe to give even if your horse is recovering from laminitis.

Loss of performance

michele dowell

It has been suggested by my granddaughters dressage trainer that her very bright and talented Dartmoor pony may have slight breathing problems during the summer indicated by his laziness at that time. There are no symptoms like a cough
but just lack of oomph, and he doesn't like hot weather.Would the Airways extra strength suit this rather nebulous problem?

  • VioVet Staff

Breathing problems due to pollen allergies during the summer are not uncommon in horses and your dressage trainer is right that you may not always see obvious symptoms like a cough. Signs can be more subtle such as slightly increased respiratory rate and effort and the presence of a "heave line" across the abdominal muscles. You could try Airways Xtra Strength though I am not sure how effective it will be for the lower airways where the problem lies. I would suggest Winergy Ventilate as a more suitable product to try. Alternatively you could have your vet do a scope and take a sample of fluid from the airways which will tell you definitively if there is inflammation present.

Foals

I bought Equine America Airways Xtra Strength Powder for Horses and also coff-less , i want to know if i can use them for foals ( 8 Months ) ?and if i can use it for foals , the dosage will be how much ? and i want to know also if i can mix both products on one meal or seperate ?

  • VioVet Staff

Both products are fine to give to 8 month old foals. A course of Coff-Less is recommended first before maintaining on Airways® Xtra Strength Powder so you shouldn't need to mix both into the same feed. If you did it shouldn't cause a problem but is probably pointless. The dose rate is dependant on the weight of the foals. If they are around 250kg then you should give half the dose recommended for an average 500kg horse.

Hi, is this safe for pregnant mares, so many respiratory aids are not, I cannot see where you list contra indications?
