Double Bridle Bits

In the past the Double Bridle Bit was a sign of both the rider's skill and the horse's training. Today, this bit is able to evoke sophisticated responses from the horse due to its complexity and the severity of the Curb Bit component. However, in the wrong hands this bit can cause pain to the horse, as 'heavy hands' will cause the Double Bridle Bit to damage the horse's mouth. The horse must also be highly trained so to understand and accept the double bit design. The bit uses 4 reins, two of which attached to the Snaffle Bit (or the Bradoon), the other two fitting onto the Curb Bit. This type of bit is common in dressage, show jumping and eventing.
