35 Effective, but wasteful.

I'm not keen on the individual dispensing capsules. They are fiddly and there is expensive wastage each day because the product is stated to be disposed after 12 hours.

Overall excellent product prescribed by my vet for our cat, cheaper via Vetmeds Direct than buying it at the Veterinary surgery. Quick delivery.

Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Clinadry Eye Lubricant, including answers from our team.

Can these be used with Optimmune?

Hazel

My dog has long-term dry eye that, most of the time, is controlled with twice a day Optimmune from our vet Sometimes though, her eyes still seem dry and she needs some extra moisture. We have been using Optixcare eyelube plus but I’d like something long lasting for over night because sometimes she can’t open her eyes easily in the morning. Would this be ok to use with Optimmune?

  • VioVet Staff

Yes this eye lubricant can be used alongside Optimmune. It can be used inbetween Optimmune doses to moisten the eyes and prevent them drying out. It is not a substitue for Optimmune.

Eye ulcers in dogs

Pauline Hobson

Would this product be suitable for my dog He has eye ulcers. ?

  • VioVet Staff

Yes this product can be a useful part of eye ulcer treatment, the lubricant will prevent the eye drying out. It is important to use other medications, such as antibiotic or serum eye drops, to treat ulceration too. I recommend following your vet's treatment plan for the ulcers.

Suitable for Dogs

Tara Madgwick

I think my dog has dry eyes - largely from the central heating. Is this suitable for me to use without prescription?

So like I would buy something like optrex for myself over the counter at boots?

I've considered using a gel instead as it might stay in the eye for longer. I plan to use this overnight. so put in at bedtime rather than during the day when the heating is largely off.

  • VioVet Staff

These drops are safe to use, just like you would buy OTC products from Boots for yourself. They may or may not be needed - your vet can measure tear flow and assess any possible dryness. Dryness can be caused by medical conditions, not just central heating, so yo need to get it checked properly if genuine dry eye is present. These drops are safe enough to use however, whatever the situation and will help if dryness is present.
