55 Good for my elderly horse

This is an excellent product which helps my horse with his arthritic hock. He seems to feel no pain now, whereas before I used this, his back leg sometimes gave way. And much cheaper than vet painkiller. Brilliant product.

55 Great product and does exactly what it says it does on the box

My horse was on regular Bute to help his arthritis and aging joints. Wasn’t keen on using Bute for such a prolonged period and after some research thought I’d give Buteless High strength a try. Definitely a convert, my horse works well and seems much happier in himself on this product. Glad we made the switch and it seems so is he.

Ruby

How much would be needed a day for a 17hh horse?

  • VioVet Staff

Feed 30g per day for the first 10 days. After that drop the dose to 15g per day. If you feel your horse requires a higher daily dose you can increase the dose until you find the optimal level. The idea is to feed the lowest effective dose. Do not exceed 30g per day long term.

Ulcer prone horses

Susanh

Is Buteless safe to use on horses who have had ulcers in the past?

  • VioVet Staff

Whilst I am not sure there have been any studies to show evidence either way anecdotally Boswellia does not cause stomach irritation and is considered safe for ulcer prone horses.

Use with other products.

Amanda

My horse has gone lame again and is on bute. I was wonder about your equine American high strength buteless, would it be ok to use along side devil's claw and the equine American glucosamine msm? I would like to try an alternative to bute as he won't eat bute in his feed or a sandwhich. It's so hard to get him to eat it.. Thank you !

  • VioVet Staff

It is generally regarded as safe to use the different brands of herbal remedies together as long as they do not contain the same ingredients. (I would not use different brands of Devil's Claw together.) The herbal products seem to be safe to mix with Bute. If you cannot get your horse to take Bute, then try without, but we usually find that it is one of the most effective treatments so it might be a shame to stop it in fact. What does your own vet think?
