Bitless Bits

Derived from Spanish tradition, the Hackamore is a type of horse headgear which serves the same function of a bit without actually going in the horse's mouth; thus earning the nickname, the 'bitless bit.' It is suitable for young and sensitive horses, as well as horses with dental problems or conformations which reject the conventional bit. Like any other bit, the Hackamore can be mild or severe, and the skill of the rider is equally important - the pressure points which the Hackamore works upon are very sensitive and can be damaged.
