I am afraid cats will not let W near their nails

Firstly I thought I was sent the wrong clippers and that they were for a dog because they are so big. I’ve attached a photo with our existing pair of clippers - see? Massive. The actual blades are twice the size compared to the clippers we’ve had previously and didn’t seem particularly sharp, splintering the claw.
The instructions talked about there being a safety catch which I could not see (unless they were talking about the finger guard... which is a finger guard) and the clippers themselves can be opened up 360 degrees and there’s no way they can be tightened up.
The bulky clippers made it hard to see over them, with the blade obscuring the claw, making it hard to ensure that you are clipping the claw and not the quick, not to mention taking into consideration cat fluff, extending the claw, and all the other fun stuff claw clipping entails, *which means you need to see what you are doing*. My cat is also 6kg, so I can’t see how you’d manage with a smaller cat.
I ended up abandoning them two claws in when it became clear that I could not clearly see the claw and I did not want to harm my cat. Unless the Beast of Bodmin pays us a visit and needs a mani/pedi, I can’t see when I’d ever use them again.
I don’t know why these got such great reviews, they are the absolute worst. Cat claw clipping needs precision, and this was more like using garden shears.

I ordered the clippers because they opened up and were very easy to get around my Chihuahua's dew claws. They are lovely and sharp and do a really perfect job. Considering their size, they do seem to be very robust - though it is early days to really comment on this.
