Description

In cases of renal insufficiency, a tailor-made diet containing specially selected nutrients can help to support your cat’s kidneys for optimal wellbeing.

ROYAL CANIN® Renal Liquid is a nutritionally complete liquid formula designed for tube-feeding cats that have been diagnosed with Chronic Renal Insufficiency. When your cat’s kidneys are not functioning as they should, the kidneys cannot effectively filter phosphorus from the blood stream. ROYAL CANIN® Renal Liquid is formulated with high quality proteins and a restricted phosphorus content to support kidney function.

Enriched with EPA, DHA, and a synergistic antioxidant complex, ROYAL CANIN® Renal Liquid also helps to neutralise free radicals, helping to support their overall wellbeing.

ROYAL CANIN® Renal Liquid has a high energy density, meeting your cat’s daily energy requirements in a reduced feeding volume. Thanks to its adapted viscosity, ROYAL CANIN® Renal Liquid is ideal for easy tube feeding, regardless of the tube size. ROYAL CANIN® Renal Veterinary diets are specially formulated to support cats with Chronic Renal Insufficiency. Each one of our unique formulas contains specific nutrients to provide your cat with a complete and balanced diet.

Good product. Cat's CKD has progressed. Wasn't keen on eating, this was just what she need to still get some nutrients and hydration.

Royal Canin Renal Liquid

Jan Denton

I bought this product in an effort to get our 18 year old cat to drink more. As soon as I opened the bottle and put a little liquid on a small plate, he immediately drank it all. I then noticed that on the bottle it seems it should be given intravenously. Is the product ok to give our cat in small amounts. and not intravenously.

Thanks
Jan

  • VioVet Staff

This product is not for intravenous use, it is dangerous if given in this way. It is for tube feeding cats. This means for patients who cannot eat themselves who have a stomach tube in place, so the liquid is adminisered through that tube and goes directly into the stomach.
It is safe to be given orally as well but should only really be used alongside veterinary advice.

is this suitable to rehydrate a 21 year old cat with chronic kidney failure

  • VioVet Staff

This product is a great liquid food for cats that are struggling to eat due to renal failure. It's main use is as a liquid meal and not to provide hydration. I recommend checking out Oralade RF Support for this use. This should be run past your vet first though in case it interferes with their treatment plan.
